soda pop rip off
Snake River Conspiracy-
I'd heard mixed reviews about this one before i'd heard anything by them; mainly bad ones. I hear them, i think a NiN/collide inspired attempt at industrial. "i find it hard to be a very caring person- i know you'd understand"- but with lyrics like that, what self-respecting person can't be drawn to them. Plus, it has to be said, i do have a soft spot in my heart for songs with industrial/poptechno/metal/whatever backdrops as featured in (probably their most impressive songs), "Somebody Hates You" and "You and Your Friends".
They covered The Cure's "Lovesong" AND The Smiths' How soon is now AND they put them all on one album ( Sonic Jihad). Mistake? I think so. But thats probably because i generally hate covers, possibly. Either that or they are just shite. I think the later is most likely. I do however find the tinkly bell part on "How Soon is Now", a little bit cute- but only for about three and a half seconds.
Would it be silly of me to compare them to Evanescence? Do they deserve more credit? Maybe a little bit, but who cares. The female-lyricist was a good move, for the generally male-fronted genre but that doesn't really stop them for being boring.
I'm not posting a song with this one because i can't be bothered, if you really want to listen to them then download it, or check out the first post. "Somebody hates you" is obviously their best song.
